About

My name is Saidah Gilbert. I love to read. Therefore I was always in the library. Hence my interest in Library and Information Science. I am from Trinidad and Tobago. I am the eldest of five children. I have one sister and three brothers. I live with my parents in St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago.

I read a Master’s degree in Library Science at City University London from 2014 to 2015. This blog was started for the INM 348 Digital Information Technologies and Architecture module in the first trimester. The objectives of this module included detailing the hardware and software associated with information storage and retrieval from its earliest days to the present. In the second trimester, I used the blog to write thoughts for the INM 380 Libraries and Publishing in an Information Society. The objectives of the module included a comparison between the library and information sector and both the trade and academic publishing market.

Now I have graduated and returned to my home country where I continue to write about my interests. I have now included reviews that I write on Goodreads. I will continue to blog about specific LIS topics especially since I plan to pursue a career in public librarianship.

It has been about three years since I updated this page. I have now been employed three years as a school librarian. The government agency, NALIS (National Library and Information System Authority) runs all public, school and special libraries in the country. Now that I am actually employed as a librarian, my thoughts on this blog should’ve changed. However, I haven’t been diligent in updating it. I will start with this page for now.
